Who gets to move. Who gets to be seen.

The LagosPhoto network brings questions of borders, memory and belonging into the gallery and beyond it.

LagosPhoto: Stories of Movement and Belonging is on view at Lakeside Arts in Nottingham through January 10, 2027. Curated by Maria Pia Bernardoni and Courage Kpodo, it brings together photographers from Africa, its diaspora and the wider LagosPhoto network.

The exhibition considers borders, memory and unequal freedom of movement. Work also appears outdoors around Lakeside and the University of Nottingham’s University Park campus. Arsène Mpiana’s Passport series, made between 2019 and 2024, is among the work highlighted by the venue.

STURDY NOTE: Keep the photographer’s point of view in the frame. A photograph about movement can also be about who controls the story of the person moving.

Djanogly Gallery admission is free. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 to 16:00, and Sunday, noon to 16:00 local time.
