Arsenal Mikebe brings its own drum machine.
A steel percussion system, three drummers and a night that connects Kampala to Amsterdam.
Arsenal Mikebe’s percussion system was custom-built by Ugandan sculptor Henry Segamwenge, drawing inspiration from the Roland TR-808. The Kampala group turns that physical instrument into the centre of its live practice.
On October 23, 2026, the Nyege Nyege-affiliated ensemble plays BIMHUIS in Amsterdam. The night is organised with Africadelic and The Gang is Beautiful. Prance and Ike Melchizedek play back to back before and after the performance.
The venue’s published timetable lists DJs from 20:00 and Arsenal Mikebe at 21:30 local time. Standard tickets are €20 including the stated service charge; check the venue for availability.
STURDY NOTE: Follow the people who build the instrument as closely as the people playing it. This is a meeting between sculpture, rhythm and a room full of listeners.
